The city guard of Rosemont has implemented strict controls about who may to enter or leave the city. When Corwyn mentions his connection to Sir Justin and states that he wants to visit him, they feel provoked and attack. In the heat of combat, Corwyn beheads their leader. The remaining guards lay down their weapons and ask Corwyn to wait until someone from the Earl’s household arrives. Sir Giordus of Mallis, the Earl’s Sheriff, arrives with several knights, and apprehends Corwyn.
